What Mark offers

Organisation Development

Mark will work with you and the wider workforce to design and deliver bespoke and innovative projects that seek both to enhance how things are done in your organisation - and to improve how people experience working there.

Research

Mark completed his doctoral studies at the University of Greenwich in 2012. He continues to try to seek out ways to make sense of our social world, which obviously encompasses the workplace. His research practice is people-focused and seeks not to interpret the worlds that others inhabit but to instead hear their voices so as to understand their experience.

He will work with you to design research activity that ensures that the voices of all in your organisation are heard - and valued.

Thinking Partnership

Mark offers the chance to speak about experiences and to take ideas for a walk in a safe conversational space. You will have the chance to be heard - and Mark will offer insights from his experience and scholarship. This is not coaching - which can often get hung up on models and has a power relationship at its heart - or mentoring. Mark will be your partner in dialogue…and your conversations with him will start where you need them to - and will end who knows where!

Teaching

As a trained teacher and a visiting lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire, Mark is well placed to offer formal teaching sessions to business students and others in respect to systems working, leadership, and OD. He also teaches at other institutions such as the University of the West of England, where he has delivered introductory sessions on systems leadership.

Alongside systems thinking, his teaching pivots around his areas of expertise and interest, namely: power in the workplace; voice and silence in organisations; supporting critical inquiry into leadership – and rethinking the practice for a contemporary context; and ways in which we might think about reorganising organisation in society.

Workshops and Events

Mark has many years of experience in terms of helping groups to come together in conversation and to explore key themes. While he will work with you to co-design bespoke events, he also offers a range of workshops and masterclasses, including:

  • The extremely well-received 2.5hr online session called Unpacking Power. He also hosts Praxis Groups for graduates from those events who wish to explore the issue of power in their workplace through the prism of their own experiences.

  • His half-day introductory sessions on systems thinking and its relevance to the contemporary context in health and social care have also been shown to be very popular for anyone

  • Lastly, he works with participants to support leadership inquiry, undertaken over the course of six 75 minute sessions that take place monthly.
